Cannot Boot in Safe Mode C Prompt

How long should it take a PC with 512MB Ram to boot up in Safe Mode with C
Prompt? To do a spyware scan I tried and could not. For 1 1/4 hours my
screen was filled with driver lines and the computer was working its little
heart out, but it never booted.

if there are any hardware
problems, you should be
able to boot in any mode
in a minute or a few thereof.

you might want to boot
up with a windows cd
and into recovery console
and run fixboot and or
bootcfg. while you are
there might as well run
a chkdsk too.

you're welcome.

actually meant to
infer "barring any
hardware issues"
in my suggestion.

It usually takes about a minute or two.

See the last driver loaded during booting. It might cause that problem.
It's possible to disable such driver using recovery console.
