Cannot 'add new network place' to publish from FP2003

FP2003 used to work perfectly on 2 websites, now only on one.
Difference is the 'remote website properties'.
Trying to 'add new network place' but can't get through username & password
dialogue box.
Not intranet security problem - tried that.
Any helpful ideas?

Instead of attempting to manually create a network place, let FP do it automatically by first
deleting whatever network place you have created, then open the site directly in FP via File Menu |
Open Site or via IE, then File Menu | Edit with FP
