Cannot activate agents

I've seen a few posts on this topic but haven't seen an answer as yet.
I have a PC with ver 1.0.701 of Antispyware running on WinXP Pro SP2

The problem is RealTime Protection isn't running. If I go to activate the
agents they won't activate. Also the Antispyware icon in the notification
bar, lower right of screen, often shows as multiple instances until you pass
the cursor over them. Then all vanish expect one. With the cursor over this
one icon it changes to the egg-timer.

Are you running either a Tablet PC, or do you have a fingerprint scanner
attached to your machine?

One thing to try in this instance is control panel, add or remove programs,
Microsoft Antispyware, change, update.

Hi Bill

It doesn't have either of the things you mention. Have already tried
changing, updating and also unistalled and re-installed.

Then, try these steps:

1) Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> type in -> command)
2) Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without the quºtes).
3) Close and re-open Windows Defender.
