cannot access workgroup

We have a small office with about 6 computers running XP Prof SP2 on a
peer-to-peer network. All other computers can see the workgroup computers
and printers except my laptop, which is occasionally connected to another
network in another country (not set up as a network user, only given file and
print access to the server).

I have my computer set up to exist in the same workgroup as I am trying to
access. I see the workgroup listed in my network places, but when I click on
the workgroup, I get no access and the message:

"[workgroup] is not accessible. You might not have permission..."

I've checked my firewall, which is enabled, but printer and filesharing is
allowed. My connection to the internet over a DSL router works fine over the
same networking cables.

I'd greatly appreciate any help,
Jeff

Jeff,

A problem like this is generally caused by a firewall on the server (target),
not necessarily on your computer.

If that's not it, then you probably have a browser conflict.

Chuck,
Thank you very much. I had the same problem as Jeff. I read the article
you recommended and found that I had 2 firewalls running on the affected
computer. I disabled one of them and problem solved.
Thanks,
Mike

Mike,

Thanks for the feedback. It's always good to hear when our advice is useful
(and conversely, when it isn't).
