Cannot access shared files on the network (XP Pro)

T

techitechi

I have 2 XP Pro pc on a simple network...
I log on to one PC as an Administrator with name/password
I shared a drive giving only access to myself (the same name/password to
login )
I gave permission to do whatever to the drive .
--On the other pc, the client pc I log into it under a different name/password
I try to access the PC (mentioned above ) I see the pc in the network
neighborhood , so thats good.
I click on it , i see the drive i made shared , so thats good too.
But now when I click on it , I get " I may not have rights to access blah
blah"
I had to go back to Host PC and Add " Everyone" to the permission list to
make it work.
I can now access the files and folders but thats because I added Everyone in
the permission list ( which is what i DONT want!!)
So why is this giving me trouble!!!!

"Everyone" permission doesn't apply to all users on all computers. It
only applies to users who have an account on this computer. For
example, assume that:

1. The host PC has users named A and B.
2. The client PC has users named A and C.

Then client user A can access the host PC, but client user C can't.

Just a thought, are you able to ping both pc? Btw is there a third party
firewall say like Zonealarm or stuff? Also ensure that files sharing is
enable.
