Cannot access local LAN

I installed routing and remote access in a local windows 2000 server with
SP4, when I start the server, I cannot access any address in my network, I
receive a "Destination Host Unreachable", as soon as I stop the routing ans
remote access service, I am able to ping any address inside my network.
The server has Enable IP Routing enabled.

Thanks.

What were you trying to set up? Does the server have two NICs? Are they
in different IP subnets? A simple diagram of your network would help.

Hi Bill,
I setup the VPN functionality in "Routing and Remote Access", the
server has two network cards, but one of them is disabled, the enabled
network card has a local IP address (the card is a 3Com 3C996B Gigabit) that
is connected to a dell 10/100 switch.
If I start the "Routing and Remote Access" server service, then I loose all
connectivity to the LAN, I cannot ping any of my other local servers. Once a
stop the "Routing and Remote Access" server servicce, connectivity returns
immediately.

Thanks.

Bill,
I found the problem, when I was configuring the VPN, I selected my
enabled network card as "Connected to the Internet", so it could only receive
PPTP and L2TP-related traffic.
I reconfigured the VPN, and selected <No Internet Connection>, and it is
working now.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, that is a trap with the VPN wizard. It can set up packet filters to
block all of the traffic except VPN (so you lose normal networking).
