Cannot access cmd/REGEDIT

Hello all, I have a small problem. For the life of me I cannot access cmd
nor REGEDIT. I do the usual start>run>then type cmd or REGEDIT. After I hit
OK, a blank black box comes up then immediatlely disapears. The same happens
when I try to access REGEDIT. It's driving me crazy. Does anyone know how to
get around this or a way to cure this problem? Someone once told me it could
be a virus that made a change or is not allowing me to access either of the
two. I have Norton, Spysweeper and AVG on my computer and they don't find
squat! If anyone has any suggestions, please help. Thanks.

Just try it another quick way, is to go to:
Start>All Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt
At the blinking cursor type REGEDIT and press Enter.
See if it opens then. Type EXIT and press OK to close it.
You can also do that to access other DOS commands.
