cannot access add/remove programs section

I have Microsoft Windows XP Professional and It says there's an erro
when I try to add or remove programs from the Control Panel.

Here's what it says..

Are there any Error / Warning Reports in Event Viewer?

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. This will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report
complete with links into the message. Make sure this is the first paste
after exiting from Event Viewer.

I don't think I have Event Viewer?
When I click start, there's no Administrative Tools.

Try this click Start >> Run type in the run box this:
eventvwr click [OK] and you will be in the Event viewer click on the Left
pane under Event Viewer (Local) for:
Applications
Security
System
Clcik on each one and you will see a report or log in the right look for any
Error messages with Red Plus/Cross (X) and post them here in your next post.
