Cannon enable hibernation. Please help! :)

HI all -

I have just reinstalled Windows XP Pro, on my Dell
Desktop. When trying to Enable Hibernation in the Power
Options Manager I get the following error message: "The
process cannot access the file beause it is being used by
another process", with "Power Policy Manager unable to
reserve hibernate file" in the error message's title bar.
How can I fix it?

Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you in advance for
yoru time.

Hello Arkady,
Off line (Safe mode? Recovery console?), delete the file called
C:\hiberfil.sys. This is normally a very large file (equal to the amount
of ram you have installed), so make sure you have enough disk space.
Reboot, and check if it re-appeared (it shouldn't have yet).

Once you have confirmed it is no longer present, Enable Hibernation
again. That file will now re-appear, and hibernation should be re-
enabled.
