Can´t post to newsgroups somtimes

P

Patrick

Hi,

I am using Windows Mail to read and post to newsgroups. Geting new posts
from newsgroups is never a problem. But sometimes, it is not possible to post
to a newsgroup.

The Mail will be shown at the "Send Item" folder but will never reach the
group. After a reboot of the computer it will work for some time.

Any Ideas? I would be thankful for your help.

Best regards

Patrick!

Cannot see the mail in Sent after I send them. I went to tools, options,
send and made sure save copy of sent mail was checked. Above in left corner,
I have checked off show all messages.

There are some problems with the web-based interface to the Microsoft newsgroups.
The best solution is to always post and view with the newsgroup reader that is
built-in to Windows Mail. See if this link brings it up:

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail

To make sure your posts are visible, change these two settings in Windows Mail:

Tools, Options, General, uncheck "Use newsgroup message rating features".
Tools, Options, Read, uncheck "Get 300 headers at a time".

Please don't post the same issue multiple times.

See my response under your thread "Can't see sent mail in sent folder".

I did what you suggested and I am confused as how to post. Sorry, not
computer literate, clicked on, new, and I don't know where to go from there.
Thank You

Where are you seeing this 'New' button? It sounds like you are still in
the web interface. In Windows Mail, is there a "Microsoft Communities"
in the left (folder) pane? If so, are there newsgroup names immediately
underneath that? If not, double-click on "Microsoft Communities" and it
should offer to download the list of newsgroups. Select the newsgroup
"microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail", then click on Subscribe, OK.
It will download thousands of old posts. When done, it is best to mark all
those old posts as 'Read' by doing Ctrl+A (select all), then Ctrl+Q.
Before you hide any posts, sort by date, and you should be able to see
today's posts including this one. You can reply to an existing post by
selecting it, then click on 'Reply Group'. After catching up on the latest
posts, I hide them by selecting the view "Hide Read Messages". To see
the new posts in proper context, sort by Subject.

Hi Gary,

that´s not working. After rebooting I am now able to post - but not for long
as a suggest. The intersting thing is, that I can see my post, when I am
using the web interface

http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...DDB-D18D-FA0E-A366-6E527B0FBA67&lang=en&cr=US

But even after a reboot these post will not be seen in Windows Mail. I am
not sure, if anybody else can see the post.

Any Idea?

Best regards

Patrick!
