Can you move windows that drop down off the ribbon out of the way?

I searched the discussion group and couldn't find where anybody has ever
addressed this question. Maybe I'm not using the correct words but, in PPT
2007, is there a way to detach the drop down window from the ribbon and move
it out of the way? What is happening is as I'm looking at say Shape Effects,
the drop down menu is covering up my shape on the slide so I can't see how
the different effects are effecting my shape. Make sense?? Any help would be
appreciated.
 
A few galleries can be resized but not usually usefully.

We have a silly (but free) Add In that can help a little but there's no
