Can you link the Calendar to Notes?

I'm trying to get a diary on every person, that will be updated from time to
time, but I need reminders, which you can only get in Calendars. I'm using
notes for each person. Is there a way to link the two together, so that when
it's time to update a file in notes, the calendar reminds me? I need more
space for the diaries which notes provides, and calendar gives me the
notification. Can the two be linked? If so, how? I'm using Outlook 2000.
Also, I'd love to be able to link the notes to an excel spreadsheet. Is this
possible?

A solution may be to use Microsoft OneNote product. It all allows you to
keep extensive notes including grouping, tracking and flagging and
integrates with Outlook task and/or calendar which you can then select a
reminder.

May be worth checking into.
