Can you get the taskbar to behave like in Win98?

Is there some hack/tweak that can get the XP taskbar to behavel like
under win98:

As you opened more applications the taskbar buttons got resized (iem
they got narrower and narrower as you opened more) - it doesn't seem XP
can do this????

(I know you can change a registry setting to get a permanent size
difference, that's not what i'm asking for. Selecting "ungroup" isn't
the same either)

Don't know what your problem could be, XP has always done this on every
version I have used.

Windows XP does the same thing, it shrinks the size of the apps on the
taskbar to fit it, how else would it fit? If you want to change the options
on it, you right-click on taskbar and choose Properties, then click on Start
Menu tab and Customize.

I believe I know what the problem is. If you open multiple "windows" of the
same type (ie: 5 different web pages) and a lot more applications, Windows
XP groups all the application windows into one taskbar icon. That is to
say: the 5 web page opened in Internet Explorer will be grouped into one
taskbar icon with a "push up" menu.

WHAT?!!! It has *never* done that on any version I have ever used....!?
Pro or home. What the heck kind of version are you using??

Not here. Which is why i'm asking....

It either groups them under the same heading, and/or adds scrollbars to
the taskbar so that you have to scroll through several pages.

It never changes the width of them.

Menu tab and Customize.

Has no baring on the problem I asked about.

Update: There is a problem apparently, because after switch back and
forth between win98 and xp menu, and tweaking bits and pieces now it has
started to do it??? Very odd.

I don't think so. He said he selected the "ungroup" option so that should
take care of that problem.

XP Pro SP1, Xp Home SP1 and XP Media Center Edition SP1.
I support over 50 XP machines at my job and every single one behaves in the
same way. If yours is not, then there is something different about your
setup. Did you install any third party explorer addons?

Sorry, i got confused as to what my problem really was, and how XP
really behaves.
