Hi
I am building xpe image for the pos systems produced from my
company. The costs and costumed components are two reasons that we
are testing xpe. Because there are many pos softwares in the
market. We don't want to spend too much time to build one image for each
program. We would like to create a image includes all the components and
services as xp Pro. The dealer can install any pos programs as xp pro. As
you know, the xpe licensing are cheaper than xp pro. Here are some
questions for xpe vs xp pro.

1. Theoretically, is it possible to create a complete XP Pro equivalent
image from Xpe?
2. Would it works and functions as XP Pro?
3. What is the suggestion to build that xls.

Thanks for your reply for these questions.

1. No. There are some subtle differences.
2. Basically yeah.
3. The toolset doesn't perform well when building a slx with that many
options.

My advice to you is get the top 5 POS apps you want to support and make sure
the image works for them. Hopefully the dependancies from those will
satisfy the other less popular POS apps. If you find one that still doesn't
work, update your image.

XP Embedded builds are meant to be targetted to specific applications.
You'll never have a guarantee that it will work for a non-tested application
on your particular OS image.
