can windows xp use up 1Go ram ?

I mean, I bought my computer with 1 Go, thinking that it would increase
performance; in fact, on my precedent computer I had only 192 Mo (with a
lower processor) and Win XP was slow; but now, I never use more than 512 Mo
(my main usage being browsing through the web); I thought in place of writing
to the disc every image or data the web brings on to the computer, Win XP
would use the Ram disc as a cache for faster performance; actually there's
more than 10000 files
on my internet temporary files, some of them the kind of which I will never
show up again, and to get rid of them I must purge them all (so I would use
the advanced option "clear the internet temporary files when the navigator is
closed"); I would have preferred an option like "don't cache internet
temporary files", because I suppose that filtering through 10000 files means
a little slowing for the user (or else must I upgrade for a 3.0GHz machine,
mine being a 1.6GHz ?).

In Internet Explorer try Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, and check box
before "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when Browser is closed".
Click on Apply and OK.

Hope this helps.

For that matter, if you reduce the space allocated for Temporary
Internet files, fewer of them will be kept around.
