I have XP Pro SP2 installed on the C:\drive which also contains the
Folder "Program Files"

Is it possible to move Program Files to another Partition so that Ican
keep all Installed Apps out of the C:drive?

Certainly, but it takes a lot of work.

1. Uninstall all applications.
2. Create a new folder for the applications wherever you wish.
3. Install all applications to use the new folder.

This ought to keep you busy for a while.

Well - as our US cousins would say - "You got that right! "

Thanks Jim - I could do all lthat of course - but I was wondering
whether it would have been possible to just move the folder "en-masse"
,complete with contents, to another partition.

Presumably , from your reply , you don't think that's possible !

No, merely moving them en masse would not work because the software
installations generate lots of entries in the registry. It would be
possible to edit the entries to reflect the new location, but doing so is
even more work.
Besides editing the registry is an inherently risky operation unless you are
very experienced.

No, there is no way to move the folder without reinstalling every
application. Even then, some built-in Windows accessories and common
files will need to be there anyway.

The only way to get Program Files to another drive altogether is to
install Windows from scratch, specifying the location of Program Files
and Common Files with the following lines in an answer file:

[Unattended]
ProgramFilesDir = "D:\Programs"
CommonProgramFilesDir = "D:\Programs\Common"

(Substitute in your preferred paths.)
