Hello all,

I build a XPE and we tried to install SUN JAVA JRE into XPE use
j2re-1_4_2_06-windows-i586-p.exe program download from http://java.sun.com/
But when we install it, we got error message, so I install it again, no
error message this time, then I set up system variable for java "bin"
folder, but when I type "java" command from DOS prompt windows, I got "load
JVM error".

My questions are
1. Can I install Sun JVM into XPE?
2. Do I need to add some special components into XPE?

Thank you very much!!!

1. Yes. If it can work under XP Pro, it can work under XP Embedded.
2. Undoubtedly. The trick is finding out which ones. There are tools to
help analyze what's being used by an application (or install program). Some
tools that come to mind that are easily found via google are DEPENDS,
REGSNAP, INCTRL5, NTFILEMON and NTREGMON.

I installed the SDK version (has debugging in it)
j2sdk-1_4_2_06-windows-i586-p.exe
It installed rather well for a 52 meg install.
Don't know what components it needs and my boss has yet to excercise it but
it did install with no errors.

Hello Martin,

Thanks you so much!

I download the JRE and unzip it, so I just install it to XPE?
Is anybody using it??

Hello all,

I still get error when I type "JAVA" command, it says "initialize VM
error".
Is anybody using JAVA under XPE?

Is this related to memory size, the RAM for my XPE is 112MB.

Thanks a lot!!!
