Can someone explain this error

M

MB

I have a .doc that includes a table.

When I want to print, it says:
"The margins of section 1 are set outside the printable area of the
page...."

It then asks if I want to continue. I say yes and it seems to print just
fine.

So, what is going on? Also, what do they mean by section 1.

This is a common problem and the solution is to either recreate the document
(or template if it happens with any document created from the same
(template).

That's confusing. Why should I recreate the doc?? It seems to work just
fine. The error message seems to be bogus. What am I missing?

Hi Mel,

You can try to fix the margins for the first section in "File > Page
setup".

Go into the *second* section, then open the dialog.

One of the settings that vanishes when you change "Apply to: This section"
to "Apply to: Whole document" is the problem.

If that doesn't help, the doc may be corrupt (which is what Terry probably
assumed).

I assumed the latter as I am sure that you would have checked the former:
you may not see the corruption but Word does.

I assumed the latter as I am sure that you would have checked the former:

Sometimes it looks like corruption, but can be fixed anyway.
I got a file a couple of weeks ago that raised the error message "margins
outside the printable area ..." , and it turned out it had line numbers
with a large negative indent that put them outside the page (so you
couldn't see them).
After fixing that, the error disappeared.

It may have been a *sort* of corruption though: I can't see a way that this
negative indent could have been set from the user interface.

Regards,
Klaus
