Can someone explain the Signed/Encrypt icon on the received email?

When you sign an email by using the OPTIONS button, the email is
received with the red certificate icon. When signing an email with the
"Add digital sign....." check under tools, options, security, the
email looks as though it is encrypted (a blue I in a circle)... can
anyone explain why this is?
Thanks!

The signed icon means that it has been signed but you can read it. The blue
icon means that it has been encrypted and that you need to have the
encryption from the sender enabled.

Have you asked the Help function for this information before posting?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the SWEN virus, all mail sent to my personal account will be deleted
without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, Ft4Bredn asked:

Did you read my post before responding? Both emails are signed only. I
issue certificates on a daily basis, I understand PKI, I understand
how to use OUTLOOK. I don't understand how you can respond in a
condescending manner without reading my post.
