Can' save rule

M

Mark A. Sam

I am unable to save new rules or changes to rules using Outlook 2002. I get
this message when I Click "Ok" to close the wizard:

A value in the 'Rule Description' box has not been set.
To set a value, click underlined words at the bottom of the rules wizard.

I am doing what the message says. I have been donig this for a couple of
years. This message began appearing recently and I need to set some rules.
I am forced to cancel any new rules or changes.

Thanks for any help. God Bless,

Mark A. Sam

I don't understand what you mean. See if what is disabled? How do I find
that option?

Thanks for additional help.

At the bottom you'll find the rule with underlined words. These undelined
words need to be clicked and a valid variable must be set for them.

Roady,

I understand that and that is what I do. I am entering values. That isn't
the issue. The message is bogus. It is probably another Microsoft bug, but
I thought I'd ask.

God Bless,

Mark

Does it still happen when you disable all the other rules before creating a
new one? If so; you've created to many rules. You can only have up to 32KB
of rules active.

Roady,

I didn't try that, but things are fine now without explanation. I just set
up a new rule and modified another without a problem. I keep your
suggestion in mind for the next time.

Mark

The Outlook message is not clear enough.
What it really means is that ONE or more of your rules has this problem.
Check each of your rules to find any that have not been specified. This could be due to the fact that your may have moved Outlook folders around and effectively broken the link and rule.

It's great I made this note.
Fixed my problem again.
Probably all the Outlook XP users "have left the building".

Nearly a year later, new PC, old problem fixed again.
