Can retail XP Upgrade version upgrade Win2K eval if I own NT4 lice

Help please... I just purchased a retail version of Windows XP Professional
Upgrade version via a web site. The CD will arrive in a few days.

I have Windows 2000 Professional Evaluation Edition installed on my laptop.

My laptop previously had NT4 Workstation installed (OEM version), so I have
the NT4 certificate of authority and the CD.

I think maybe the version of XP I just purchased will not work unless the XP
Professional setup allows me to put my NT4 CD in the CD drive during the
setup as proof of a qualifying OS. Will it give me this option???

Do I need to cancel my order and get the full retail version of XP? TIA

I can't swear to anything, but in my experience it has
allowed me to do an upgrade in the way you are
describing. I have not specifically tried NT4, but many
others with lots of success.

Good luck!

Ed,

Yes, when performing an upgrade if the install doesn't find a "qualifying
prior OS" it will always prompt you to insert the CD of the "qualifying
prior OS".
