Can recieve e-mail, but not send. Outlook 2003

I have Outlook 2003 with the small business module. I run XP pro. I
Recently cannot send e-mail from outlook. I recieve fine. I do the testing
at e-mail tools successfully, but when sending from outlook, i get
"unspecified error" I have DSL with Verizon, if that helps. Thanks.

Could u be little bit more specific ? Do you use POP3 connection and SMTP to
receive/send emails or do u use exchange ? Also if you use exchange what
does the SMTP log say ?

I have the same problem, can recieve but can't send. I'm using XP Pro,
outlook 2003, POP3 and SMTP. My mail server is Gmail. I've heard the same
problem allso from others using Gmail - Outlook together. When testing
account settings, I get this: "..could not connect to the outgoing mail
server.." All settings are correct according to Gmail's directions.
 
Did you try to connect to the SMTP server with telnet client and send mail
with it ? That should work as well and you'll find out if it's connection
problem or outlook problem.
 
I tried the same with mozilla thunderbird and result was the same. So I guess
it's connection problem.
