can read dvd but not cds - windows-xp-home

suddenly my dvd and cd read only drive will read and play dvds ok, but will
not read any cd - data cd or audio cd.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Knowledgebase has been no help

Combo drives have two lasers - one for cd's and one for dvd's. You can
try a drive cleaner, but probably the cd laser has died and the drive
will need to be replaced. This is not expensive.
