Hello everyone,
I have a Pentium III with windows 98SE and IE6.0. I can successfully ping an ip address, but I cannot ping with a name, "microsoft.com", For example. I removed a large quantity of adware, and spyware with Adaware, Spybot, and Hijack This , but still cannot ping a name or reach a website with IE. I am sure this is a DNS issue, but haven't been able to resolve it. Can anyone help me with this?

Thank You,
Ray

You tcp/ip settings are probably hosed. Run winipconfig and check your DNS
ip address, it should match the address give to you by your ISP. And or
course, you should try to ping that address.

Find your HOSTS file and make sure that it isn't overriding
any lookups for microsoft.com (or just delete or rename that file.)

Third-party toolbars are also known to interfere somehow with that site.
Try uninstalling toolbars such as Yahoo and Google.

Good luck
