can ping but cannot browse.

I can ping anything but cannot browse at all.
Already runned winsocketfix and tryed everything.

I can't understand why I'm facing the same problem on a machine running
WinXP and another running W2K, on different servers and networks.

I can only access the net running on safe mode (???)

Please someone help me!!!

Looks like you're getting an IP from your ISP, because they are public
IP-numbers.
Do the servers where you attach your computer to, have the DHCP-service
running?
