Can only save jpegs as bitmaps

Recently, when trying to save jpegs in IE6, the save window is treating them as .bmp files and defaulting to a name of "untitled". Any ideas as to why IE6 has started behaving this way?

Because you need to delete your temporary internet files. In IE click
Tools, Internet Options and under Temporary Internet Files click Delete
Files.

This has happened to me too! The only thing I can suggest
is that you note down the name of the .jpg, save the pic
as a .bmp, load it up in Paint, Save As a .jpg, then
delete the .bmp

That happens when the Temporary Internet Files are too full. In IE click
Tools | Internet Options. Click Delete Files in the Temporary Internet
files section of the General tab. On the next window place a check mark in
the box to Delete all offline content.

Unfortunately, that doesn't work...to empty Files. Nor does
the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 810978. I followed
that ...and NO files are listed as UNKNOWN or DAMAGED.
There has to be some other problem that hasn't been
identified/fixed.
