Can only get on the internet in safe mode.

Hi. I must be missing something simple here. The only meaningful change I
have made in my system was letting AVG antivirus expire. Since that time, I
can only access the internet in safe mode with networking. I have run
Spybot, Avast, Norton Antivirus. The firewall has been checked several
times. I have attempted to erase all vestiges of AVG from the system. No
matter what I do, I cannot bring up the internet in normal mode. I even
loaded Firefox, but I get the same result. Thank you for any help in advance.
