Can only access certain pictures files on my network

The network works fine and I can transfer most of the files. However, it
won't let me transfer certain files. For instance, when I'm on the network
and I access a folder of pictures (most of the files I'm transferring are
photos) off of my laptop, I can see a preview of most of the photos. Some
photos, however, say "no preview available" and when I try to copy them to my
desktop I get "can not copy file ....please make sure the disk is not write
protected or that the file is not currently in use." Its completely random
photos that i know are not being used for anything. In each folder there are
about 100 of these and it makes it impossible to do a batch transfer because
it will just stop as soon as it gets this error. And I dont think anything is
wrong with the photos because I've checked and they're all there on the
laptop.
The pictures were downloaded from my Nikon D70, and I can see them trough
the network only if they were modified in another program (Photoshop). Then
they become available.
I dont think its a problem with the network because 80% of the files
transfer fine. Maybe there is some problem with the files sharing properties?

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help.

I GOT IT!

The problem was the use of ACDSee to get the pictures from the camera to my
computer. This program has an "Auto-rotate" option based on the EXIF
orientation.
For some reazon when the file is rotated for the program the picture is not
available through the network for preview or use. The files that are Not
rotated are fine.
Now the challenge is find out why this is happening.
