I received the message my password was about to expire -I
reentered the same password I formerly used and logged on
with no problem. After shutdown and restart I now can
only log on to my admistrator acccount I can no longer
access my account. I tried system restore going back two
days and theis made no difference. If I rt click on
start open all users or explore I can see my account
How can I log on to my old account
Thanks in advance

If you're running XP PRO:

From the built in Administrator account, go to Start, Run and enter
GPEDIT.MSC Go to Computer Configuration, Windows Settings, Security
Settings, Account Policies, Password Policies. Set the maximum password
age to 0 (this prevents it from expiring). Try logging on to the old
account again.

If that fails, log in on the built in Administrator account, and go to
Start, Run and enter LUSRMGR.MSC Open the User's folder, and double click
your username. Check the settings there.

If neither of these work, you may have to create a new user account and copy
your documents and files from the old account, to it. See Help and Support
and search for "take ownership"

Neither of the utilities mentioned above (GPEDIT/LUSRMGR) exist in XP Home.

I am running XP Pro and tried both suggestions without
success. Using explore all users I've been able to
restore my desktop to the Admin account which works fine.
MY problem now is - I was able in import from my Archive
my outlook mail (sent inbox and contacts) but have lost 7
days - I can't locate the original account inbox any help
would be appreciated. ( I had to setup outlook on the
admin desktop

I am running XP pro upgrade over win 98se.
I tried both fixes no luck
I was able to copy my desktop icons from my lost account
to the Admin. Desktop
I was able to restore all but the last seven days of my
outlook email (and contacts) from the archive folder.
Is there anyway I can find the Outlook sent file and
received file for the past seven days? I've done seaches
with all the Outlook suffix's on my C: drive and then
opened my lost account from start explore all uses and
seached there but nothing appears.
Also - start>all programs - many programs that were listed
under the user account are not listed - yet the icons I
transfered to the Admin desk top work ??

PROBLEM RESOLVED - FROM THE ADMIN ACCOUNT I could still
see my "lost" account. I change the name and password
and it was restored.
