Can not start Task Manager

Cleaned up some parasite file that got into my computer
via the web. May have removed something I shouldn't have.

Now I can't start Task Manager. Get no msg. It just
doesn't start.

Looking for advice on repairing or reinstalling Windows
Task Manager.

If you are sure your computer is free of all viruses (and you would do
this by scanning with a current antivirus program using updated
definitions), then put your XP cd in the drive and go to Run and type
"sfc.exe /scannow" without the quotes.
