Can not see my own websites after setting up routing

M

Matthew Mandalek

I have setup counting on Machine1. It is connected directly to the Internet
as well as my local network.

I have websites setup on Machine2 on my local network and am routing all
traffic from Machine1 port 80 to it.

I have another server on my local network, Machine3 that I use as a
workstation.

When i attempt to connect to my website from Machine3
(http://www.domain.tld) I get the "Page can not be displyed". But, when I
connect from a machine out on the Internet, it works fine.

What have I done wrong?

Thanks

Matt

No, the DNS works fine. I can do everything I need to from an outside
machine and if I ping www.thenoc.us from the inside, I get a response on the
public IP address. This is turn is passed through win2003-2 using Routing
via NAT/Firewall. There is a port forward on port 80 forwarding all data to
win2003-3, which is the webserver.

This issues seems to only happen on my internal network. The machine I am
working from is on the same Class C subnet as all the servers.

Then that could be loopback issue. This case may give you the tip,

You hit this one right on the nail head. I was afraid that would be the
answer, so I was attempting to find a better way.

Now I have to setup two servers as my external DNS servers (ns1.thenoc.us
and ns2.thenoc.us) which control the public IP information. Then I have to
setup my internal DNS servers (will be using two) that show everything the
external DNS servers do, BUT with the public IP addresses substituted with
internal non-routable IP Addresses that exist on the LAN.

This is not going to be fun, as I have quite a large (and always growing)
zone file. I feel that it will become a management nightmare.

Thanks for the input, and verifying what I was already afraid of.
