I had window XP installed by a professional. Now I cannot
print on both sides of the paper. Also Windows XP does
not accept the software that i got with windows 98 which
is superior to what I have now.
I was told by Hp that the software that came with XP is
the newest and that in order to take full advantage of it
I have to get their 300 or 500 series printer.
What du you suggest? thans, Franz

Yes and No......

HP decided in their wisdom not to bother to write updated drivers for most
of the old discontinued printers. Microsoft did write drivers for them and
included them with XP so that you could still use your printer and it did
not become a doorstop.

However the new drivers may not have all the advanced functionality you were
used to.

You can regain most of these features using the shareware at

Or, as HP would like you to do, you can go out and buy another printer. And
the correct terminology is duplex printing.

Your choice!
