can not ping xp

trying to use remote assistant with a Win98se computer. From XP I can ping
the whole net work but no computer can ping xp.

Firewalls are down, although I have no trouble pinging thru PC-Cillin
firewall.

where do I go from here?
 
it really sounds like a firewall problem- you turned off the windows firewall
on the xp machine?
 
Yes, XP off and PC-Cillin on. I just switched them and ping worked. I don't
understand why since the ICMP to allow echo request is not checked. XPs
firewall seems to have several inconsistancies which is why I used
PC-Cillins.

Now that everyones talking, I'm going to try remote assistant. Thanks
