Can not Enable Firewall in XP Home Edition

M

Mike

I can not enable the firewall for a dial-up connection
on Microsoft XP Home Edition. When I get to the Network
Tasks window and click on "Change settings of this
connection", nothing happens. It just sits there. The
ISP is AOL. What am I doing wrong?

I hate to ruin your theory since I understand your
feelings about AOL, however, my customer is now having the
same problem - and she uses IE and MSN.

I'm Probably Not Here

Anne, what I wrote is NOT a theory, it is a well-known fact. That your
customer is having the same problem with IE/MSN has nothing whatsoever
to do with the FACT that the XP firewall will never work with AOL.

My feelings about AOL really have nothing to do with this, it is simply
a fact, not a theory.

(An undergraduate class in logic would show you the fallacy of your
argument.)

Sorry, but as for your customer, you'll have to rely on others to assist
you, as I know not how to remedy the situation. It is quite likely that
someone who does have this information will chime in here, and/or you
can do a Google Groups search for the subject, which will quite likely
find you the relevant information.
