Can not delete corrupt file

I downloaded a file from the internet. Before I installed it, I decided not
to use it because I did not trust the source. I tried to delete the file and
got:

Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected
and that the file is not currently in use.

I checked with task manager and it wasn't listed. I deleted my temp files
and tried again with the same result. I tried Unlocker and it said the
program was not locked. I tried Free Lock and it said:

You do not have sufficient access to 1 processes

which I don't understand because I am signed in as Administrator. I tried
Hijack this, but the program is not listed. I tried Safe Mode but it still
would not let me delete it. I tried using WinRar to repair it. I got a
message saying the file was corrupt and couldn't be accessed and to
re-download it. I re-downloaded to the same folder. I was able to delete the
new files but still can not delete the original corrupt files.

I use Outpost Firewall, Giant Anti-Spyware, Win Patrol, Spybot, and Spyware
Blaster. None of them have picked up anything. Can anyone help me delete this
file? Any help is appreciated. I have been trying to delete this file for
over five hours.

Restart your comptuer and hit <F8> to enter Windows Safe mode -- you should
be able to delete the file fine then too. . .

But I'd like to add my 2 cents worth on the topic of AntiSpyware

While many people now know to keep their AntiSpyware programs updated --
most are oblivious that the software's default settings do NOT scan for all
possible problems!

Software manufactures state that users don’t want to wait a long time for
scanning, so they choose a (quicker) default scanning time. So to "properly"
configure the software:

Microsoft’s AntiSpyware

1) Launch program and check for (& install) updates (under the File
pull-down menu)
2) Click on “Scan Optionsâ€
3) Select “Run a full system scan’
4) Ensure that all check boxes are selected (as well as ALL of your local
hard drives)
5) Click on “Save these options†then “Run Scan Nowâ€

If the file is corrupt run Error Checking | Reboot | Try to delete the file
again.

1. In My Computer or Windows Explorer, right-click the volume you want to
check, and then click Properties.
2. On the Tools tab, click Check Now.
3. Do one of the following:

o To run Chkdsk by using the /f parameter, select the Automatically fix file
system errors check box, and then click Start.
[[Specifies whether Windows repairs file-system errors found during disk
checking. All files must be closed for this program to run. If the drive is
currently in use, a message asks if you want to reschedule
the disk checking for the next time you restart your computer. Your drive is
not available to run other tasks while the disk is being checked.]]

o To run Chkdsk by using the /r parameter, select the Scan for and attempt
recovery of bad sectors check box, and then click Start.
[[Specifies whether Windows repairs file-system errors found during disk
checking, locates bad sectors, and recovers readable information. All files
must be closed for this program to run. If the drive is currently in use, a
message asks if you want to reschedule the disk checking for the next time
you restart your computer. Your drive is not available to run other tasks
while the disk is being checked. If you select this option, you do not need
to select Automatically fix file system errors. Windows fixes any errors on
the disk.]]

You have to reboot for Error-checking to run.

For a peek at the log.

To Blake Handler...Thanks, but in my post I mentioned that I had already
tried to delete it in "safe mode" and couldn't.

To Wesley Vogel....Thanks for trying to help. I tried it and it said the
disk was clean and still wouldn't let me delete it.

To Rick "Nutcase" Rogers....THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! That link was
wonderful! Some of the things were a little too far over my head for me to
try. I tried the winini.exe and the other download with no luck. I thought I
was going to have to try the complicated stuff until I saw the link for
changing the ownership of the file. Four clicks later I was able to delete
it! I bookmarked the link. Again, many thanks!

Hi!, THANK YOU SO MUCH...you help me a lot with this problem. I saw this
comments, then i did all the things you said and it works...you put away a
trouble from my head. THANKS!!!!!!!!! it's very useful.
