can not defrag

Keith

I am unable to perform a defragment a sign comes up
telling me it has been aborted due to inconsistencies
that were detected in the file system. please run chkdsk
or scan disk on C to repair these inconsistencies then
run defrag again. Where is the scandisk and why do I need
to do this all of the sudden I never had to before? Any
help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You and Merry
Christmas.

Hi

i have the same problem. i'll tell you how to run scandisk. click start, my computer, then right click the disk that you want to defragment (c,d,e...), click properties, tools, and finally check disk now. it will ask you to schedule a scan disk for the next time you restart your computer. if you want to do it in that moment, restart it and the scandisk will start. i hope you have good luck because i did it four times and i still have the same problem. it must be something more complicated than that. but you can always give it a try. this is my e-mail address in case you have a question about it. see (e-mail address removed)
