Can not access shared folders on

G

Guest

I have 2 XP pro machines networked through a router the internet connection
is through a wireless modem connected to the router.
When I try to browse a shared folder over the network I get a password box
asking for a password for the guest account on the other computer.
A blank password does not work nor do any other user passwords.
I have tryed to connect the network with a crossover cable and got the same
behaviour so I guess the router is not to blame.
Firewall is turned of.
Both computers can ping each other.
Both computers can access the internet.
Guest account is active on both computers.
Both computers show up in network places.
Does anybody have any sugestions as to how this can be fixed?

How did you activate the Guest accounts?

Did you set the password properly on each computer? Try resetting it to blank
values, then change the setting to allow blank passwords?

Are you running Simple, or Advanced, File Sharing? What firewall is "turned
off"? Note third party firewalls are known for causing problems.
