can not access old profile after re-installing windows xp pro

I reinstall windows xp pro on my computer and left the partition as is, I
still can see the old profile but i can not access it or open the folder. It
gives me error "access denied"

Even though these are "your" files, Windows XP has no way of knowing that.
It is still protecting the folders and files for your old account. While
logged on with an account in the administrative group, you can take
ownership of these items. Once that is done, you will be able to access
them again.
