Can not access floppy drive

C

Chris

I am having problems accessing the floppy drive using
Windows XP. I am using the Star Office word processing
program to load a file from a floppy disk. Whenever I
attempt to do so I get an error message saying the O.S.
does not have serial rights to the drive.

When I look up the drive in the device manager. It says
it is functioning properly. Are certain floppy drives not
compatible with Windows XP?

If anyone can give me some advise on how to solve this
problem I would really appreciate it.

Yes - XP supports fewer types of FDs than previous Win OSs.
Search M$'s KB for details, but ISTR that XP only supports
1.44MB 3.5" FDs -- not including the tri-mode FDs.
