Can no longer draw shapes since upgrade to PPT 2007

The problem is simple: whenever I want to draw a shape on a slide (a
rectangle, a circle, etc), I can adjust the width of the shape, but not the
height: the shape always comes out with a small size (like maybe 1 cm). This
also means I cannot draw a circle: they always come us as ellipses.

Worse: when I want to modify the height of a box in an existing
presentation, the height of the box is lost: it becomes a small horizontal
rectangle. That happens also on slides I copy from other presentations.

The only way to make a shape taller is by the right click,

Is this a known problem, and if so is there a fix/patch for it ?

Or is it that I need to change some global setting ?

Thanks for any help.

You need to draw a shape or select an existing shape.

Right Click > Format Shape
Select "TextBox" and UNSET "Resize shape to fit text"

Now Right Click and "Set as Default Shape"

See if that helps!
