Can I watch broadcast DTV with ATI HDTV Wonder?

Three questions on ATI HDTV Wonder.

Can ATI HDTV Wonder get broadcast DTV? I want to do away
with cable TV or satellite TV since they cost so much.

How many channels can we get with ATI HDTV Wonder? One
thing that I don't like about my Analog ATI AIW 8500 is that
it has only 125 channels. It didn't work well with cable
channels above 125. As an example. DTV in Spanish
(www.hitn.tv) is on channel 811, would I be able to watch it
with ATI HDTV Wonder card assuming I'm close to its station
and do get its signal?

If I have cable or satellite TV, can I also plug cable TV
and satellite TV signal to the card and enjoy more channel
programming?

Goto http://antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.aspx plug in your info and
you'll find out what Off The Air channels you can get. You should get
at least NBC, CBS, ABC, and PBS.

To get HITN, you need to subscribe to one of the satellite or cable
systems that carry it.

On cable systems, channels over 100 are DIGITAL. Further, unless they
are part of basic digital service (broadcast, weather, etc..) they are
encrypted. You would need a CableCard, which doesn't exist yet for PC
tuners as far as I know (and would probably result in major legal
problems.) For any 'digital' tuner, you first need to see if it supports
QAM, which the modulation used for digital cable. Digital broadcast TV
uses ATSC.

Unless they've released a driver update that enables QAM, that's the only
kind of DTV you can watch with it.

However many have a signal passing over your location with adequate signal
quality. Since that depends on your physical location, how the Hell should
_we_ know?

Huh? There is no broadcast channel 811. Broadcast in the US is 2-83.

If there is an composite, s-video, or modulated output from the cable or
satellite box then yes, you can. Otherwise you can't. If you want to see
high definition over cable then you need to look into the Dvico Fusion
boards, that do have QAM enabled--it's still beta though last time I
checked.

Broadcast only goes to 69 now. 70-83 went to make space for cell
phones and other things sometime in the 80's I believe. The FCC is
pushing to give up more because they can sell them for big $$$$.

Regardless, it doesn't go to 811, which was the point.
