can i use my gmail account through outlook2003?

I have tried to use outook 2003 as an email client having access to my gmail
account but without any success. have tried to configure all the settings but
still cant send and just sometimes it recieves the new email sometimes not.
is gmail fully compatible with outlook express? if yes what else do i have
to do?

Google has instructions on their help pages for configuring Outlook to use
their service.

Yes.

Just set up your gmail account to require authentication, and also to
receive pop on port 995 and send smtp on port 465.
