Can I use "multiple monitors" with ATI Radeon 9000 Driver?

I use a ThinkPad T-40 that has the most recent ATI Driver for the ATI Radeon
9000 Graphics Adapter. However, I find that I am unable to use the "mulitple
monitors" feature (in "Set up Slide Show" when I am connected to an LCD
Projector in addition to the ThinkPad's own LCD screen. I am able to use the
ATI controls to "Extend" my desktop so that it is "split" between the two
drivers. However, the "mulitple monitors" feature remains "greyed out".
Does anyone know if this can be actually done using the ATI driver?
THANK YOU!

I am still looking at the site but it appears to be VERY helpful. Right now,
I have identified that the ATI Driver installed supports "clone" and
"multi-scan" modes -- but does not appear to support the TRUE "multi-display"
mode. I am not sure if I have the MOST current ATI Driver(s) especially
since the ATI Drivers for Laptops are somewhat "customized" for that laptop.
However, at this point, at least I have an idea where to look! Thank you.
