Can I use AIW Radeon 8500DV's IEEE 1394/Firewire for an external DVD +/-
combination drive, anyone try it?

Thanks to all.

Maybe but don't count on it.

What do you mean "Maybe"? Have you tried it or anyone you know tried it?
Where else beside this NG, can I find out if I can connect an external DVD
burner to this peripheral?

Thanks again.

The ATI Firewire port uses a PCI to AGP bridge that has proven
problematical--some devices work with it, others don't. Unless you
encounter someone who has exactly the same hardware as you, including the
drive, there's no way to tell with certainty.

Thank you for the informations and reply. I did a search at ATI website and
found the following which maybe of interest to anyone reading this.

Beside the information above those using Win98SE like myself may need to install
Microsoft IEEE 1394 Storage Supplement. You can find all the above in ATI
website.

Have you come across anyone installed MS IEEE 1394 and connect it to DVD
combination burner? Thank you again, I appreciate it.
