Can I sync my pocket pc (2002) with outlook 2003?

Guest

I have a pocket pc (Toshiba e330) with outlook 2002 mobile on it. Outlook
2002 came with it. I have a new job where Outlook 2003 is installed and
we're on a server. It seems that I cannot sync my pocket pc with my computer
at work. Is there a way to upgrade? Is there any way that my pocket is
still of use?

Thanks,

Hello, I have just updated to Office 2003 and my new installation of Outlook
seems to have removed the 2002 version from my pda (HP Ipaq 4700) and I
cannot reload Outlook 2002 that came with my PDA as 2003 appears to take
precedence and the reinstallation leaves both versions corrupted. I have
searched the MS site for either an updated Outlook (ie 2003) for pocket pc or
another way of solving the problem, and so far, have found nothing that
resembles the situation that I find myself in!! Are you able to shed any
light on this....any help would be greatly appreciated.

Outlook 2003 works fine with PDAs and there is no version for the PocketPC.
The version that comes with the PPC is the full Outlook client. You
probably would do better either uninstalling and reinstalling ActiveSync or
posting in a PPC group like microsoft.public.pocketpc.activesync.

Many thanks Milly, that's very useful to know and at least I don't need to
spend more time looking for the non-existent 2003 for PDA but that's only
part of the problem....I've updated to the latest Activesync and that has
been working fine. so I don't believe that's the culprit but I'm in a fix
because I cannot load O2002 back on to my home PC to re-prime my PDA (I've
tried and I end with both 2002 and 2003 corrupted and neither working) and as
I have ''lost'' 2002 off my PDA at the first sync'ing after installing Office
Pro 2003 (it just vanished, I did not remove it and it was a while before I
realised it had actually disappeared entirely, every file scrubbed), so I now
have a functioning copy of 2003 on my PC and a PDA with no Outlook at all!!
Now that I know that 2002 will sync with 2003 (thanks for that snippet of
good news), I'll find a 'pensioned off' pc at work and load 2002 on that to
re-load my PDA and hope that will fix it and everything will sync once again.

You cannot remove Outlook from the PDA because it's embedded in the ROM You
can, however, lose the data that was in it if you incorrectly set up the
synchronizaton parameters in your partnership. If you did and don't have a
backup of your PST or your PDA, you're out of luck.
