Can I scan slides with scanner?

My brother did have a scanner which had a triangular set of mirrors which
enabled him to scan slides using his scanner.
He has lost this triangular assembly, and I have tried with a small mirror
with no success.
Does anyone know of the physics etc required to enable me to make something
to do this, or is the accuracy of the angles too precise for the handy
modeller to do this?

It's not cost effective for you to do this. You can purchase a new scanner
which is capable of scanning slides and negatives for about $200.00 or less.

YES you can do it. The accuracy is minimal,very minimal.
I am doing it using nothing but a bright paper triangle over it. I tried
mirrors but was not happy with results.
Do a google search on it, much info there mostly in photography sites.

Yes.
Look at the Epson Perfection range They do an excellent job on all types of
slides plus b/w or color negs. of all sizes up to A4.
I wouldn't be without mine as I'm into Genealogy.
