Can I revert to XP home after upgrading to XP-Pro?

Mike

I just bought a copy of XP pro and installed it on my
home computer which came with XP Home. I was expecting a
significant improvement, yet can't really tell the
difference. I would like to uninstall it (I haven't
activated it yet) and install it on my work computer
instead which is running Windows 98.
I can find several instructions about uninstalling back
to 98 & 2000, but not reverting back to XP-Home. Can this
be done without reformating the hard drive. How can I
tell if I still have the Home Edition installed as a
second OS System?
Thanks for any assistance,Mike

If you upgraded Home to pro, you cannot go back without a clean install.
If you installed in a dual boot scenario, you could. When you first boot, do
you
get an option to boot into Home or Pro?
If not, then you did upgraded and would have to clean install.

Greetings --

The only way to change from WinXP Pro to WinXP Home is to format
the drive and start over. There is no supported downgrade path or
technique.

Home and Pro are identical systems - most of the code files are exactly
the same ones. IT is just that Pro has some extra facilities, aimed
primarily at business use. The only one that *might* be of significance
to you would be access control at file/folder level in NTFS disks,
rather than the 'Simple File Sharing'; and possibly the ability to
formally join an NT domain in a local network. If you do not need
these, put the Home back, (which will need a clean instal;l) and use the
Pro elsewhere
