I am running Windows XP Home. I have all appropriate updates installed for
my Sound Blaster Live 5.1 card that I downloaded from Creative Labs.

Can I reinstall this card simply by uninstalling Sound Blaster Live in safe
mode? Will it reapply the updates and software properly when rebooted, or
will those updates have to be reapplied if the card is reinstalled?

Windows XP will install the drivers automatically. However, drivers for the
SoundBlaster sound cards are available through Windows Update, so, you will
have to check if those drivers got installed or the ones from CL.

You didn't mention the driver version. I use the UniPack drivers and the
UniPack Patch from Creative Labs on a CL SB Live Value card in a PC running
XP Pro. I don't have any other Creative Labs software installed.

They will most likely need to be reapplied. Not exactly familiar with your
hardware so I am relating a general hardware fix.
