Can I make only the last slides of a PowerPoint presentation loop?

I have Microsoft Office 2003. I am building a PowerPoint presentation and at
the end of it I have 8 slides I want to make loop while participants are
completing their presentation evaluation forms. I know how to do it as a
separate presentation, but is there away to do it within the original
presentation? The rest of the presentation is advanced on a mouse click, but
the I made the last slides advance automatically. They work fine until the
last slide, then it goes to a black screen. Can anyone help or am I just
reaching?

Make the last slide a custom show (side show > custom shows > add new)
Set transition to auto after 0m secs
In slide show >set up show > loop until esc

You will need an action button on the last but one slide to hyperlink to
custom show. If you want this could be invisible (99% transparent)
