I have created question slides with Yes and No links to the next
corresponding slides eg if answer yes link goes to slide 2 if answer No goes
to slide 3 this happens during slide show presentation I want to be able to
lock the rest of the slide so that only a link click can progress to the next
slide because the process does not run in order if you just click anywhere on
the screen to progress the slides

You can probably use Custom Shows to do this. Set up all of your
question slides at the front, and your answer slides at the back of
the presentation. Set the presentation open options to only run the
question slides, and create a custom show for each of the answers.

Does each question slide have it's own 'Yes' and 'No' slide, or could
they all use the same slides for the answers?

Which version of PowerPoint do you use?

In "Set up show" enable kiosk mode. This will disable all keys on your
keyboard (except Esc and F1), and it will disable clicking anywhere on a
slide to change slides. Only hyperlinks will work. So make sure to include
links on all of your slides to advance the slide show.

Best regards,
Ute
